Determination of sulfonyl chlorides by reaction with 3-chloroaniline

Abstract: to chemically distinguish KCN and PCC using the Conway microdiffusion cell technique (9) where the sample is treated with sulfuric acid to release HCN gas which is then trapped with NaOH in the central cell of the chamber. In these laboratories it was observed that PCC did not liberate HCN under these conditions which is consistent with the report of Soine (3) that PCC is stable under strongly acidic conditions.LITERATURE CITED
