Determination of Some Physical and Mechanical Properties of the Wood-Based Panels Modified by Acrylic Textile Fiber

Abstract: In this research, a series of wood-based panels were produced by using wood chips [beech (Fagus Sylvatica L.) and Scotch pine (Pinus sylvestris L.)] as wastes of wood-working workshops and acrylic fibers as wastes of textiles factory. Four kinds of different panels (Eltapan I, II, III and IV) were obtained by mixing these components in different composition (0%, 25% and 50%). Some physical and mechanical properties of the samples taken from these panels were determined in accordance with ASTM D1037-12 and ASTM… Show more

“…It is also referred to as ageing resistance. The main factors influencing bamboo scrimber's ageing resistance are as follows: first is the chemical composition and fibrous morphology of the material; second is the adhesive's water and heat resistance used in the production of bamboo scrimber; and third are external environmental conditions, such as temperature and humidity when used [9,10]. Currently, there is no specialised testing method to evaluate the ageing resistance of bamboo scrimber at home and abroad using some commonly accelerated ageing testing methods.…”

“…Multi-value utilization of wood residues has extensively been studied for relieving dependence on native wood (Altunok et al 2015). Through the warm-press forming technology, wood powder can be formed as a new material with high density and high added value.…”

“…PAN fiber was chosen as a matrix due to its remarkable resistance against UV degradation. 22,23 The co-dispersion solvent can partly dissolve and swell the PAN, and at the same time facilitate the anchoring of P25 nanoparticles onto the PAN fiber surface during the dip coating process. The optimal coating conditions were determined by the photocatalytic performance of the obtained P25-coated fibers.…”
