Determination of platinum in mineral raw materials by switching chronoamperometry

Abstract: Abstract. The technique of platinum (IV) determination in mineral raw materials with the application of switching chronoamperometry has been offered. The graphite electrode impregnated with polyethylene was used as the working electrode. The hydrolytic precipitation method with 3% NaOH solution has been developed to separate platinum from the sample matrix. The use of switching chronoamperometry applied to the assessment of the platinum content in geological objects has been demonstrated.

“…Palladium was extracted from a specimen by chloroform by use of extraction of dythemil-glyoxysome complex [3,12]. The separation of the sample matrix from platinum ions was performed by means of hydrolysis method by treating the sample with 3% NaOH solution [13]. 1 M HCl solutions were used as a supporting electrolyte.…”

“…Typically, in the analyzed samples of ore contains a small excess copper ions, most of which is removed during the preparation of samples for analysis, for example, by hydrolysis bromatny. However, some of the copper enters the sample by formation of soluble complex compounds [7,8].…”

“…Previously, the authors have developed a suitable sample preparation scheme [3]. The stage of [4] dissolution, decomposition, dry and wet ashing, extraction, adsorption and distillation were selected and optimized. In particular, the temperature, the reactive medium, duration and intensification of opening samples operations have been defined to achieve the reliability and reproducibility of the analysis.…”
