Determination of Phthalate Esters in Liquor by High Resolution Mass Spectrometry

Abstract: Phthalate esters are environmental hormones present in food due to their migration from packaging materials and other polymers. Gas chromatography and liquid chromatography coupled with mass spectrometry are the most widely used techniques for trace phthalate ester determination. However, a major problem in the analysis is contamination during the sample pretreatment, resulting in false-positive results or over-estimated concentrations. In this study, a simple, rapid, and sensitive method for the determination… Show more

“…Several methods for the determination of phthalate esters have been reported (Penalver et al 1999;Polo et al 2005;Niu et al 2006;Carrillo et al 2007;Wang et al 2007;Chen et al 2009;Lee et al 2011;Chen and Zhang 2013;Wang et al 2013;Xu et al 2014;Chen et al 2015). To the best knowledge of the authors, these reports focused on plasticizers in food, drugs, water, and packing materials, which overlooked the potential hazardous effects of products with indirect contact to skin.…”

“…Full scan, targeted single ion monitoring (tSIM) and targeted MS/MS (tMS/MS) modes are three kinds of commonly used quantitative models for Q-Exactive in our previous studies. [31][32][33] Full scan mode is a full scan of all ions in the specied mass range. However, the precursor in the inclusion list (with retention times) can be selected in the quadrupole with a particular isolation width by tSIM mode.…”
