“…The tolerance limit (w/w) was defined as the concentration of the diver's ions added causing a relative error within ±3% in the true absorbance of mercury (II)-HOTT complex. The results revealed that the presence of large amounts of the following foreign ions: Ag + , Ca 2+ , NH 4 + , Li + and Mg 2+ and the anions PO 4 3− , CH 3 COO − and NO 3 − did not cause any significant change in the corrected absorbance of the Hg complex even at 1:1000 tolerable concentrations of Hg (II) to the foreign ions, respectively. The ions Co 2+ , Ni 2+ , Cd 2+ , Au 3+ , F − and Cl − at 100-fold excess to the mercury (II) ions also did not interfere.…”
