Determination of inorganic anions, carboxylic acids and amino acids in plant matrices by capillary zone electrophoresis

Abstract: SummaryPhysiological investigations of solute transport in plants affords knowledge of solute distribution between different tissues. Capillary electrophoresis using indirect UV and laser induced fluorescence (LIF) detection is demonstrated as a useful technique for the simultaneous determination of inorganic anions, amino acids and carboxylic acids in plant samples. Cell sap obtained from plant tissues as well as simple ethanolic or aqueous plant extracts can be analysed directly without any pretreatment. Thi… Show more

“…The organic acids were analysed using capillary electrophoresis with a salicylate electrolyte (Bazzanella et al, 1997). The capillary electrophoresis (CE) system G1600A (Agilent, Böblingen, Germany) equipped with a built-in diode-array detector proceeded according to Blossfeld et al (2011).…”

“…It was used for the determination of organic acids with a salicylate electrolyte (Bazzanella et al 1997). The system G1600A (Agilent, Böblingen, Germany) was used, including a diode array detector and using fused silica capillaries (Polymicro, Phoenix, USA, 75 μm inner diameter, 64.5 cm total length, 56 cm effective length).…”

“…[266] and [250]). For example, inorganic anions including NO 2 − and NO 3 − can be efficiently separated in basal electrolytes with addition of chromate [267], pyromellitic acid [268] and salicylate [269]. Other useful probes for simultaneous separation of a range of inorganic anions and organic acids include p-aminobenzoic acid [270], phthalic acid [271], 5-sulfosalicylic acid [272], trimellitic acid (TMA) [273,274], and 1,3,5-benzenetricarboxylic acid [275].…”
