Determination of heavy metals in some tissues of four fish species from the Karasu River (Erzincan, Turkey) for public consumption

Abstract: The study aimed at determining the concentration of heavy metals in muscle, liver, and gill tissues of four fish species (Acanthobrama marmid, Capoeta umbla, Capoeta trutta and Chondrostoma regium) collected from five sites in the Karasu River, Erzincan, between July 2019 and January 2020. The relationships between fish size (length and weight) and metal concentrations in the tissues were also investigated using Pearson correlation analysis. Concentrations of Al, Fe, Cu, Mn and Zn were higher than those of oth… Show more

“…HM levels can vary signi cantly in different organs or tissues of sh [5]. Differences in HM concentrations among sh tissues are in uenced by various factors, such as the levels of HMs in water and food, water chemistry, and the species, size, age, gender, feeding habits, habitat, and physiological status of sh [1,29,[31][32][33][34]. Relationships may exist between these factors.…”

“…According to Rožič et al [ 53 ], the Zn and Cu values in cultured and wild seabream were below the permissible levels (50 and 20 mg/kg, respectively) [ 49 ]. The values given by the authors were higher than the values determined for this species of fish covered by the research in this paper ( Table 1 ).…”
