Determination of Growth Centers in Regional Development in Wonogiri Regency

Abstract

One of the reasons for the social inequality that occurs in various regions is the difference in the pace of the economy and the uneven development across regions. In general, the problems that exist in areas experiencing inequality are high unemployment rates, lack of community facilities and infrastructure, and even inequality in the quality of natural resources and human resources. This problem causes underdeveloped areas to experience poverty. For this reason, it is necessary to determine distributed growth centers in Wonogiri Regency to minimize the gaps that occur. The aim of this research is to determine which sub-districts are suitable as locations for growth centers in Wonogiri Regency. The analysis used is scalogram analysis and gravity model analysis. Scalogram analysis is used to analyze the location of growth centers in terms of the number of facilities and infrastructure available, while gravity model analysis is used to analyze the determination of the hinterland of each growth center. The results of the analysis show that of the 25 sub-districts in Wonogiri Regency, 5 sub-districts have been identified as centers of growth, namely Wonogiri Sub-district, Jatisrono Sub-district, Baturetno Sub-district, Purwantoro Sub-district and Pracimantoro Sub-district.
