Determination of eugenitin in mouse blood by ultra-performance liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry and its application to a pharmacokinetic study

Abstract: Eugenitin is a non-volatile chromone derivative which is always found in dried flower buds of Syzygium aromaticum L. (Merr.) & L.M. Perry. Until now, there were no reports about the pharmacokinetics of eugenitin in biological fluids. A UPLC-MS/MS method developed to determine eugenitin in mouse blood. The blood samples were prepared by protein precipitation with acetonitrile. Chrysin (internal standard, IS) and eugenitin were gradient eluted by mobile phase of acetonitrile and water (0.1% formic acid) in a… Show more

“…Since its rapid development over the past 20 years, its research results have played an important role in designing new drugs; optimizing drug administration schedules; improving drug dosage forms; and providing efficient, rapid, long‐lasting, low‐toxicity, and tolerable drugs with effects (Wang et al, 2024; Watanabe et al, 2024). For drug pharmacokinetic analysis, ultra‐performance liquid chromatography‐tandem mass spectrometry (UPLC‐MS/MS) is faster and provides a number of benefits over high‐performance liquid chromatography‐UV and liquid chromatography‐tandem mass spectrometry (Chen et al, 2024; Huang et al, 2022; Lin et al, 2022; Yu et al, 2021). Analyzing the in vivo metabolism of intricate chemical systems is possible, thanks to the potent separation and analysis capability.…”
