Determination of Electric and Magnetic Field Calculation Uncertainty in the Vicinity of Overhead Transmission Lines

Abstract: This paper presents a new approach for uncertainty determination of the electric field intensity and magnetic flux density calculation in the vicinity of overhead transmission lines. The proposed method is based on the law of propagation of uncertainty as defined in the Guide to the expression of Uncertainty in Measurement. A mathematical model is developed for determining the electric field intensity and magnetic flux density calculation uncertainty based on the Charge simulation method and method based on Bi… Show more

“…Ei Electromagnetic radiation is composed of the electric field (↑E) and the magnetic field (↑H). The expressions of these two fields are governed by Maxwell's four equations ( Eq .3 to 6) (Alihodzic et al, 2022;Frère, 2017): In the case of a power line (Figure 1) traversed by a PLC signal (iplc), the magnetic induction ↑B at point M is given by the law of Biot and Savart in Eq. 11 (CALCUL DU CHAMP MAGNÉTIQUE RAYONNÉ PAR DEUX FILS RECTILIGNES PARALLÈLES PARCOURUS PAR UN COURANT ELECTRIQUE, n.d.;Peng et al, 2020;Poljak et al, 2019): Base of the expression of the magnetic induction radiated by a single-wire-cable (Eq.…”

“…The results of these two methods were subsequently compared with the electric and magnetic fields, as well as the right-ofway values, associated with the prevailing conventional configuration. The research paper [23] presents an innovative approach for estimating uncertainty in the computation of electromagnetic field densities in proximity to overhead transmission lines. An analysis of the findings reveals that the proposed method effectively ascertains the uncertainty in the calculations of electromagnetic field intensities near OTLs.…”

“…The Calculation Algorithm for the Electric Field Generated by the OHTL Following this, a study case analysis was conducted to assess the efficacy of the mathematical model integrated into the EMF program. The results obtained from the EMF program were compared with the previously validated measurements and numerical computations available in the literature [30], where a similar mathematical model was applied. This comparison established the utility and accuracy of the mathematical model integrated into the EMF program, as corroborated by the state-of-the-art research in the field.…”
