Determination of CO2 Solubility in Saturated Liquid CH4 + N2 and CH4 + C2H6 Mixtures above Atmospheric Pressure

Abstract: Accurate CO 2 solubility data are crucial for putting a proposal of pressurized liquefied natural gas (PLNG) project into practice. A solid−liquid equilibrium (SLE) apparatus, which is based on the static−analytic method, has been set up to measure the solubility of carbon dioxide in saturated liquid CH 4 /CH 4 + N 2 /CH 4 + C 2 H 6 in the pressure region from atmospheric up to 3 MPa, corresponding to the temperature region from (112 to 170) K. In addition, Peng− Robinson (PR) and Suave−Redlich−Kwong (SRK) equ… Show more

“…7;2015 PR-EoS was also applied to calculate SLE in term of solubility of CO 2 (x 2 ) for CH 4 (1) + CO 2 (2) system with k ij proposed by ZareNezhad and Eggeman (2006). The results were compared with the experimental data obtained by Shen et al (2012) and giving a good accuracy with average absolute deviation of 0.5% between calculated and experimental solubility data. The comparison was presented in Figure 4.…”

“…Fig. 1 shows the molar solubility of CO 2 in LNG at various temperatures [31]. As shown, CO 2 molar solubility in the LNG product (~111 K) is about 0.02%, thus the LNG specification for CO 2 is 0.01% taking account of the safety margin.…”

“…More details on SVE data are reported in Tables S15–S18 in the Supporting Information. In Table , the data from Shen et al and Gao et al are not reported, since they are presented as SLE data, though Riva and Stringari observed they are actually SLVE data for which only the CO 2 mole fraction in the liquid phase was reported.…”
