Determination of Antioxidant Activity for Metal Ions Complexes

Abstract: The synthesis and characterization of Schiff base and the complexities of metal ions and the evaluation of its antioxidant activities against 1.1-Diphenyl-2-picrylhydrazyl (DPPH) will compared with standard natural antioxidants and ascorbic acid. These prepared materials gave results are due exhibit excellent radical scavenging activities for all complexes with new prepared from reaction Schiff base and metal ions for [ Mn(II), Zn (II), Cd(II), Pd(II) and Hg(II) ]. The complexes prepared characterization by sp… Show more

“…Similarly, HeLa cell SC 50 's were 361 ± 1.2, 619.5 ± 0.86, and 835.5 ± 0.63 μL/mL, respectively, compared to 814.5 ± 1.45 μL/mL in untreated cells. Better DPPH radical scavenging efficacy is indicated by lower SC 50 values [ 132 ]. Complex one in MCF-7 cells exhibits higher scavenging activity than other complexes and control cells.…”

“…DPPH (2,2‐diphenyl‐1‐picryl‐hydrazyl‐hydrate) is a stable chromogenic radical used in assays to measure the antioxidant activity of molecules, governed by a HAT (hydrogen atom transfer) and SET (electron transfer) mechanism, which can be followed by spectrophotometry at 517 nm [45–47] . DMSO was the reference, while BHT was the positive control due to its well‐known antioxidant activity [48–51] . Table 2 presents the percentage of reduction of samples ( 1 )–( 6 ) and the reference BHT calculated according to Equation 2 in materials and methods.…”

“…There are many palladium Schiff base complexes synthesized for this purpose in the literature. It was stated that these complexes generally exhibited average antioxidant activity and antioxidant property of the complexes were greater than Schiff bases [23][24][25][26].…”
