Determination of a novel ACE inhibitor in the presence of alkaline and oxidative degradation products using smart spectrophotometric and chemometric methods

Abstract: Simple, accurate, sensitive and validated UV spectrophotometric and chemometric methods were developed for the determination of imidapril hydrochloride (IMD) in the presence of both its alkaline (AKN) and oxidative (OXI) degradation products and in its pharmaceutical formulation. Method A is the fourth derivative spectra (D4) which allows the determination of IMD in the presence of both AKN and OXD, in pure form and in tablets by measuring the peak amplitude at 243.0 nm. Methods B, C and D, manipulating ratio … Show more

“…The main advantage of multivariate analysis is that it considers more than one factor in data analysis. It looks at the various independent variables that influence the dependent variable, not like univariate analysis which depend on one variable [ 18 , 22 ]. Using multivariate data processing, the substantially overlapping drug spectra were separated.…”

“…Finally another novel method for simultaneous determination of quaternary mixtures was proposed and named double divisor-ratio difference-dual wave length (DD-RD-DW). It considered as one of the new applications of double divisor [ 19 ] and an extension to the double divisor-ratio difference method (DD-RD) [ 20 ] by coupling it with dual wavelength method.…”

“…Multivariate data processing using partial least squares (PLS) regression models has been used in association with UV spectrophotometric methods for the simultaneous determination of pharmaceutical formulations, especially in cases of spectral overlap resolution (15)(16)(17)(18). However, for spectroscopic data produced by multivariate regression analysis, few studies have been reported that evaluate pH changes that may exert significant influence on PLS models, mainly because of possible protonation equilibria.…”
