“…In continuous manufacturing, the implementation of PAT is part of the control strategy to evaluate and ensure the quality of intermediate or final products to promote Real-Time Release (RTR). In-line PAT measurements are necessary to enable RTR of tablets and have been investigated extensively. The feed frame of a tablet press can be seen as a critical location for PAT implementation as it is the final mixing element determining blend homogeneity and potency. An NIR or Raman probe can therefore be inserted in the feed frame and steer the tableting process through either feedback (e.g., to the feeders of the tablet press) or feedforward control (through tablet waste diversion).…”
