Scholars have investigated the direct linkage between manager's age and sustainable corporate performance, however, the mixed results and conflicting findings on the nature of the relationship demand further explanation through the missing constructs. Therefore, the purpose of this paper is to examine the mediating role of sustainable entrepreneurial orientation in the manager's age and sustainable performance. This study develops a conceptual link by using a dynamic capabilities approach and upper echelon perspective, indicating that younger managers can adopt a more holistic approach towards sustainable practices which can enhance the environmental, social and economic performance of firms. This implies that the relationship between manager's age and sustainable performance can be explained through sustainable entrepreneurial orientation (SEO) which can play a key role in setting organizational direction towards sustainable development and achieving sustainable business performance. This study contributes to the literature by examining the role of SEO in the relationship between the manager's age and sustainable performance. This research will help practitioners recognize the importance of minimizing environmental and social problems generating due to organizational production activities. This will lead to profit generation as well as value creation for nature and the local community.

ABSTRAK Tugas dan tanggung jawab pemerintah Indonesia diantaranya, pemerataan pemberdayaan Usaha Mikro Kecil dan Menengah (UMKM). Kegiatan pemberdayaan UMKM diantaranya sosialisasi, pelatihan, penyuluhan dan pembinaan. Fenomena yang terjadi selama ini dalam pelaksanaan satu kegiatan, beberapa UMKM pernah mengikuti kegiatan dengan tema yang sama. Namun, ada pula UMKM yang belum pernah mengikuti kegiatan tersebut. Sehingga, terjadi overlaping kegiatan dan peserta. Penyebabnya karena tidak adanya informasi yang jelas dan akurat mengenai kegiatan apa saja yang pernah diikuti oleh seluruh UMKM khususnya di Kota Batam. Permasalahan ini menimbulkan dampak tidak meratanya pemberdayaan UMKM yang dilakukan. Teknologi Informasi (TI) sebagai perantara antara UMKM dan Pemerintah serta pihak lain yang berkepentingan. Model analisis implikasi sistem memperlihatkan peran dan menjawab bagaimana TI mempengaruhi subsistem secara menyeluruh. Penelitian ini menghasilkan identifikasi terhadap suatu permasalahan yang lebih mendalam, dibangun dalam model tradisional dan analisis GAP, acuan untuk menghasilkan model usulan sistem baru yang lebih baik. Hal ini diduga karena pertama, model yang dihasilkan sebagai titik awal untuk melihat secara menyeluruh perubahan yang terjadi terhadap usulan sistem baru dalam pemanfaatan TI tehadap implikasi sub sistem tradisonal dan kontribusi dalam penyelesaian permasalahan yang terjadi. Kedua, model usulan sistem baru menggambarkan adanya komunikasi penghubung antara UMKM dan narasumber untuk mengatasi GAP yang terjadi.

COVID-19 is the pandemic caused by one of the coronaviruses. This virus was not known before the outbreak in Wuhan, China, in December 2019. By January of 2020 it was declared to be a global human health crisis. The deaths and illnesses caused by the virus caused extensive fear and anxiety among people in all societies. The pandemic slowed economic activities nearly to a halt. The challenges of how companies should respond to the disruptions in their supply chains and how they can build more resilient systems, must be systematically addressed. The authors of this paper highlighted essential factors which can help companies to overcome this crisis and other types of crises, by learning from the approaches taken in India, which has a unique and diverse economic system. The Analytical Hierarchy Process (AHP) technique was used to identify the essential factors which can help companies to improve their resilience so they can recover during and after the COVID-19 pandemic era and potentially in other similar complex crises. The results of the AHP evaluation were prioritized by performing a sensitivity analysis to prioritize the essential factors. The “Role of governance” was found to be the most important factor that can be used to help in rebuilding industries and societies and in helping them to become more resilient to future severe shocks. The results of this research were used to develop recommendations for company managers, practitioners and policy-makers. The authors hope that this advice will help India to become a stronger nation with more resilient companies, which are better prepared to anticipate and to respond to future crises. We hope people in other nations will also benefit from the finding presented in this paper.
