Abstract:RESUMO Introdução: isquemia é a etiologia do acidente vascular cerebral em 85% dos casos e em cerca de 25% destes, a fonte é a carótida extracraniana. Recorrência é frequente e usualmente mais grave que a inicial. A revascularização carotídea previne novos acidentes.
