Settlement quality has always been a concern in development issues in Indonesia. Humans as residents who live in a settlement act as subjects and objects in development so the role of humans in the quality of settlements is also closely related. Settlement quality is one of the goals of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), more precisely, the 11th goal which aims to make cities and settlements inclusive, safe, resilient, and sustainable. The general problem related to the quality of settlements is that most areas still have inadequate quality settlements and the density of existing settlements exceeds the carrying capacity and carrying capacity of the environment. This can affect the decline in environmental quality in these settlements. Diseases that occur due to environmental conditions can occur due to interactions between humans, human behavior, and the environment in which they live that have the potential to transmit disease. Poor residential environmental conditions will increase the risk of environmental-based disease transmission. One of the common environmental-based diseases that occurs in settlements is leptospirosis which is usually caused by poor environmental sanitation conditions and the presence of rats. Poor environmental conditions will indirectly affect the health conditions of residents, such as mothers and children in the house. Poor maternal and child health creates opportunities for stunting to occur. Stunting is a nutritional status outcome that occurs when a child has a height of less than −2.0 standard deviation (SD) compared to the population average.

This study used a completely randomized design with a sample of 525 Anopheles sp. larvae. which were divided into 7 groups and 3 replicates, which contained 25 Anopheles spper larvae. Except for the control, each group was given clove leaf infusion starting from a concentration of 0.50%, 1%, 2%, 4% and 6%, where the treatment was carried out for 24 hours. The results showed that there was a larvicidal effect of brewing clove leaves (Syzygium aromaticum L.) on the mortality of Anopheles sp mosquito larvae, where the effective concentration was 6% and had an LC50 value in killing Anopheles sp larvae of 0.89%. The overall phytochemical content of clove leaves which has a fast response to the mortality of Anopheles sp. are saponins, flavonoids and tannins which are capable of acting as larvicides through the mechanism of damaging cell membranes or interfering with larval metabolic processes. The content of saponins, flavonoids and tannins can increase the mortality of Aedes aegypti L. larvae through the mechanism of damaging cell membranes or interfering with larval metabolic processes as stomach poisoning.

Leptospirosis is a zoonotic disease caused by Leptospira interrogans infection of all serotypes. The transmission of Leptospirosis occurs due to poor environmental conditions and this incidence increases in conditions of natural disasters, that is, floods. Leptospirosis has a bad impact on health because someone who is exposed can experience lung problems, kidney problems, or bleeding in the body. There are several high school students in grades 10-12 who have never received information about Leptospirosis, which is one of the effects of the flood disaster. This condition is necessary for the millennial generation to care about preventing Leptospirosis and contributing to flood disaster management activities. Information on preventing Leptospirosis is provided through community service activities. The process of this activity starts with the principal of a high school in Surabaya submitting a letter of application to provide health information to the LPPM STIKES Catholic unit of St Vincent a Paulo, then obtaining permission and carrying out community service activities. The results after the health education process were that there was a change in the level of knowledge of respondents, where before the activity, 17 people (57%) had less knowledge of respondents, 10 (33%) had sufficient knowledge and 3 (10%) had good knowledge of disease. Leptospirosis. The level of knowledge after being given health education 19 people (64%) had sufficient knowledge, 10 people (33%) had good knowledge and 1 person had less knowledge (3%). Based on these activities, it shows that health education can increase respondents' knowledge about Leptospirosis
