Western detective fiction is different from other narrative styles with its distinctive linguistic characteristics as a new genre. Grice's Cooperation Principle as a general description of our expectations of normal communication, helps to explain how and what people talk about. Taking The Killers by Ernest Hemingway as an example, this research analyses the linguistic characteristics of western detective fiction based on the Cooperation Principle. Its discourse is not overly rhetorical and focuses on communication between characters with a strong sense of realism and immersion. The violation of the cooperation principle makes the discourse absurd and deductive. It hides the characters'purpose by changing the subject or making the language difficult to understand. This makes the language of the characters' language have more overtones, leaving more room for the readers' imagination and also makes the readers think more about the connotation of the story, which further promotes the development of the plot.

Günlük hayatın önemli aktörleri olan bilgisayarlar, akıllı telefonlar ve diğer medya teknolojilerinin yaygınlaşması, iletişim alışkanlıklarında yeniliklere sebep olmaktadır. Dijitalleşme ile meydana gelen değişim, bireylerin konuşma, yazma, dinleme ve kendilerini ifade etme biçimlerini de etkilemektedir. Yüz yüze iletişimin önemli ve etkili bir parçası olan beden dili hareketlerinin dijital iletişim teknolojisindeki karşılığı; duygu ve ifade aktarımına şekil veren emojilerdir. Bu çalışmada, bireylerin beden dillerini, yazı dilini kullanmadan karşı tarafa hissettirebilmenin en etkin yolu olan emoji kullanımının farklı kültürlerce nasıl anlamlandırıldığı, evrensel bir dili karşılayıp karşılamadığı sorgulanmaktadır Bu çalışmada, Sakarya Üniversitesi ve Sakarya Uygulamalı Bilimler Üniversitesinde öğrenim gören uluslararası öğrencilerin emojilerin standart anlamlarını doğru bir şekilde yorumlama durumları, emojileri kullanarak beden dili özelinde kendilerini ifade biçimleri ve kültürel farklılıkların olası anlamsal yansımaları araştırılmıştır. Araştırmada, nicel araştırma yöntemi ve betimsel araştırma modelinden yararlanılmıştır. Olasılığa dayalı basit tesadüfi (rastlantısal) örnekleme yöntemiyle belirlenen örneklem için çevrimiçi anket uygulanmıştır. Asya ülkelerinden gelen lisans öğrencilerinin sayıca yoğun olduğu bu araştırmada, seçilen emojilerden 11 tanesinin öğrencilerde farklı anlamları karşıladığı tespit edilmiştir. Ayrıca öğrencilerin yaşadıkları kıta ve emojilerin anlamlandırılması arasında herhangi bir fark olmadığı anlaşılmıştır.
