“…When the presence of T gondii in respiratory illness was investigated (Villa and others 2001), no differences were found between unhealthy and healthy animals. In the present study, there were also no differences between healthy and sick females (Table 1), although abortion in rabbits associated with T gondii has been described (Rosell 2000).…”

“…Villa and others (2001) investigated the presence of Mycoplasma species, chlamydias, Toxoplasma gondii, rabbit haemorrhagic disease ( RHD ) and myxomatosis in 30‐ to 45‐day‐old animals with respiratory problems during the fattening process, and obtained a significantly higher prevalence of Mycoplasma species, RHD and myxomatosis among the animals undergoing a clinical process. Various strains of mycoplasma were also isolated from the lungs of sick animals and, to the authors' knowledge, this was the first description of this pathogen in farm rabbits.…”

“…To begin, three bacterial pathogens, Mycoplasma, P. multocida, and S. aureus, were discovered to be implicated in rabbit respiratory illness based on bacteriological and molecular characterisation (snuffles). Mycoplasma pulmonis was shown to have a greater prevalence (43 percent) when co-infected with other pathogens such as Bordetella bronchiseptica, P. multocidia, and Staphylococcus, according to Villa et al (2001). In rabbits with respiratory illness, these infections frequently present alone or in combination.…”
