“…Several studies [12,17,18,19,20,21] have compared the incidence or rate of glaucoma progression between structural and functional tests using optical-imaging devices. We calculated kappa values for these results (the authors did not originally provide kappa values) for comparison with our study when Venn diagrams incorporated into their studies were available (table 5).…”

“…The relationship between structural and functional measurements to detect the progression of glaucoma has been investigated using various combinations of currently available devices [17,18,19,20,21]. For functional measurement, guided progression analysis (GPA) using a Humphrey field analyzer (HFA), which was derived from statistical criteria of the Early Manifest Glaucoma Trial [4], is a kind of event-based analysis that can provide information about the location of progression [22].…”

“…Esta opinión tuvo pocos continuadores y durante mucho tiempo se ha suprimido el componente difuso de los campos visuales, por considerarlo causado por cataratas 7 . Nosotros recientemente hemos comprobado que esta opinión no es correcta y que, efectivamente, la progresión inicial del glaucoma se caracteriza por su escasa focalidad 8 .…”

“…Studies such as the one published in the British Journal of Ophthalmology earlier this year1 have led to new ideas on how currently available methods may be improved. In this article we attempt to summarise these new ideas.…”
