Detection of lysozyme with aptasensor based on fluorescence resonance energy transfer from carbon dots to graphene oxide

Abstract: A photoluminescent aptasensor has been developed for the detection of lysozyme based on fluorescence resonance energy transfer (FRET) between the carbon dots (CDs) and graphene oxide (GO). In the sensing system, the CDs-labeled aptamer is adsorbed onto the GO surface and the photoluminescence (PL) signal of the CDs is effectively quenched by GO. Addition of lysozyme can cause a significant FRET inhibition and recover the PL signal of the CDs due to the specific combination of lysozyme and its aptamer and the r… Show more

“…Earlier, electron acceptance ability of graphene has been utilized in sensing of potassium ion in presence of crown ether via fluorescence resonance energy transfer in CDs‐graphene . In another study, higher electronic conductivity and large specific surface area of GO were used to detect lysozyme protein based on fluorescence energy transfer from CDs to GO . In this regard, large specific surface area, electron acceptance ability and higher electronic conductivity of graphitic materials (GMs) could play a key role in the optical sensing.…”

“…

We report on metal-non-metal doped carbon dots with very high photoluminescent properties in solution. [5][6][7][8] Typically displaying size and excitation dependent luminescence properties, Cdots have received great attention in the present scenario as nascent nano-dots, especially in the field where size, cost of the material and biocompatibility are critical. Our aim is to develop such dual doped carbon dots which can also serve living cell imaging with easy permeation towards cells and show non-cytotoxic attributes.

“…Sensitive and selective detection of biomolecules in biomedical technologies is highly crucial in biomedical research and clinical diagnosis. Biomolecule determination methods are based on immunoreactions, which are rapid and sensitive methods . In this study, we have originated a detection method for lysozyme through SPR sensor for the potential diagnosis application in leukemia, meningitis, and other kidney problems without any labelling process require that means can be saved time and cost.…”

The SPR sensor was prepared by modification of the gold surface with the hydrophobic PMAPA nanoparticles and then characterized by ATR-FTIR, AFM, and WCA measurements.…”
