Detection of genetically modified organisms (GMOs) by PCR: a brief review of methodologies available

77Biyoteknolojik İlaçlar, Genel Bakış Ö ÖZ ZE ET T Canlı organizmaların tamamı ya da bir parçası kullanılarak yeni bir ürün elde etmek veya var olan bir ürünün genetik yapısında istenilen yönde değişiklikler meydana getirmek amacıyla ile kullanılan yöntemlerin tamamı biyoteknoloji konusunu içermektedir. Biyoteknolojik ürün dediğimizde canlı organizmadan elde edilen ürün anlaşılmaktadır. Biyolojik sistemlerin ve yaşa-yan organizmaların teknolojide kullanılması ve bunlardan yarar sağlanması biyoteknolojinin temelini oluşturmaktadır. Sağlık alanında, kimya endüstrisinde, gıda ve, tarım alanında, elektronik, madencilik, kâğıt endüstrisinde, enerji alanında ve çevre sağlığının korunması gibi pek çok alanda biyoteknoloji kullanılmaktadır. Örneğin; yıllardır fermantasyon ile üretilen peynir, şarap, alkol, fumarik asit, klasik biyoteknolojinin başlangıcını oluşturmaktadır. Sağlık alanında ise DNA'nın yapısının anlaşılması ile rekombinant DNA (rDNA) teknolojisi, monoklonal antikor teknolojisi, hibridoma teknolojisi ve gen tedavisi gelişmiş; yeni ilaçlar ve güvenilir aşılar üretilmeye başlan-mıştır. Kanser, AIDS, viral enfeksiyonlar gibi hastalıkların ortaya çıkmasıyla da biyoteknoloji gelişmiştir. Formülasyon ve çalışmalar hastalığa yönelik olmaya başlamıştır. Biyoteknolojide kullanılan ürünler yüksek spesifik aktiviteli, yan etkileri az maddelerdir. Biyoteknolojik ürünle-rin giderek artan önemi bu ürünlerin analiz edilmesini de önemli kılmaktadır. Biyoteknolojik ürünler elektroforez, spektrofotometrik, kromatografik, kolorimetrik ve immünolojik yöntem-ler gibi pek çok değişik yöntem ile analiz edilebilir. Biotechnological product means a product obtained from living organisms. To use biological systems or living organisms and to get benefit from them are the basis of the biotechnology. Biotechnology is used in many areas for example in the field of health, chemical industry, in the food area, in agriculture, electronic, mining, in the paper industry, in the energy field and in many areas, such as the protection of environmental health. For instance, cheese, wine, alcohol, fumaric acids have been producing by fermentation for years and biotechnology was started with this conventional biotechnology. In medical area, recombinant DNA (rDNA), monoclonal antibody technology, hibridoma technology and gene therapy have been developed by means of understanding of DNA structure in detail. New drugs and vaccines have been started to produce. Biotechnology has been developing by the occurrence of cancer, AIDS, viral infections. RESUMOHistoricamente, o homem vem modificando os alimentos com a finalidade de aumentar a produção e também suas qualidades nutricionais. O uso da biotecnologia tornou possível esse propósito. Pela modificação genética dos organismos foi possível a inserção de características previamente selecionadas em uma determinada variedade de alimento. Essa nova metodologia tem gerado controvérsias e expectativas entre os consumidores bem como na comunidade cientifica e órgãos reguladores. Como forma de minimizar os efeitos oriundos da entrada destes produtos tecnológicos no País, os órgãos reguladores Brasileiros propuseram normas com a finalidade de garantir o direito à informação e assegurar a integridade da saúde do consumidor. Neste estudo foi realizada a revisão e análise crítica da literatura, sobre os organismos geneticamente modificados e dos alimentos transgênicos, bem como um levantamento das normas que se referem a esses organismos e as penalidades previstas quando da não observância dessas normas.
