This paper presents a monitoring system to measure dust, noise, ultraviolet radiation, illuminance, temperature, and humidity and to check the presence of flammable gases—liquefied petroleum gas (LPG), propane, hydrogen, butane, methane, and carbon monoxide. The system is composed of monitoring devices, a server to process data received from the devices and that runs a web application for employers, and a mobile application for workers to check their exposure data. During employee registration, the health history of the worker concerning common diseases and symptoms related to the monitored agents must be informed. This information is analyzed through a set of predefined rules to generate alerts that the company can consider for planning professional activities to minimize exposure to risk agents. The tests presented in this work are focused on verifying the functionalities of the web interface for employee registration, especially regarding the provision of health information, the updating of this information, and the generation of corresponding alerts. At this stage, fictitious employee information was used. The results showed that the system adequately performs the proposed functionalities, and it was concluded that the solution is viable for testing in a work environment in the future stages of development. The innovative features of this study concern the correlation between workers’ health history and harmful agents to build suggestions and alerts to guide long-term OSH-related decisions.

Gasification is the process of producing combustible gases from solid materials such as coal, biomass or solid waste. The laboratory of Space Physics and Energy has two experimental gasifiers producing synthetic gases whose natures and concentrations must be determined. To do this, lower-cost sensors were purchased and used for determining the concentration of carbon monoxide with maximum concentration of 1.000 and 2.000 ppm. Hydrogen and methane concentration was not offered by these two commercial gas analyzers. In this paper Metal-Oxide gas sensors were used to extend the measurement range of carbon monoxide up to 4.000ppm. Hydrogen and methane concentrations up to 10.000ppm in synthetic gas produced by a wood fired co-current downdraft gasifier measurements were also enabled. These sensors have a chemical sensing element based on a layer of tin dioxide (SnO2); whose resistivity is sensitive to nature of the gas between two sensing electrodes. This property gives these sensors a resistive electrical model whose measurand is the concentration of the input gas. This study shows that resistor R of the sensor is related to the gas concentration with an equation of the form: log(R/R0) = A log (x) +B. With A= -0.3072, B = 0.921 for methane, A= -0.6527, B=1.3055 for carbon dioxide and A= -1.522, B = 4.5686 for hydrogen.

Wireless telemetry has the advantage of increasing productivity in accessing measurement data information in real time even when the user is not at the measurement location. Various types of methods are used to implement the telemetry system. One of the methods used is sending measurement data using Long Range (LoRa). LoRa has a small power consumption and can transmit data over a longer distance compared to Wifi technology. In this research, a prototype telemetry system will be built to transmit forest fire detection sensor data using LoRa communication. The system consists of 2 nodes where the maximum delivery reach reaches 700 meters for each node and the delivery delay reaches 23.22 seconds. The temperature and humidity sensor data have an accuracy of 4% and 8%, respectively. Sending sensor data can be displayed using Blynk.
