Detection of Formaldehyde by Surface-Enhanced Raman Spectroscopy Based on PbBiO2Br/Au4Ag4 Nanospheres

Abstract: In this work, a portable surface-enhanced Raman spectroscopy (SERS) substrate based on perovskite-like PbBiO 2 Br/AuAg hybrid nanoalloys (PbBiO 2 Br/Au 4 Ag 4 nanospheres) was fabricated for the rapid, sensitive, and selective detection of formaldehyde. PbBiO 2 Br nanospheres with thin nanosheets on the surface of the microsphere structure were synthesized via the hydrothermal method. The formation of nanospheres was controlled by an ionic liquid ([C 16 mim] + ). [C 16 mim] + can be simultaneously used as a so… Show more

“…Several formaldehyde detection methods have been proposed and demonstrated in the previous studies, including cataluminescence [9], spectroscopy [10], bio-sniffer [11], and chemiresistor [12]. However, some of the methods utilized need high temperatures to work, which uses more electricity.…”

“…9 Ultraviolet-visible (UV-vis) spectroscopy and fluorescence (FL) spectroscopy are suitable for the rapid and real-time testing of organic molecules or metal ions. 10,11 With the flourishing development of nanomaterials with FL properties, fluorometric methods are increasingly used in the determination of organic molecules and metal ions. Semiconductor quantum dots (SQDs) and noble metal nanoparticles with outstanding FL performance have advantages in their optical and electrical properties over organic dyes.…”
