Detection of a weak Near-Infrared signal using a digital orthogonal-vector lock-in amplifier

Abstract: A Near-Infrared (NIR) measurement method based on a digital orthogonal-vector lock-in amplifier (LIA) is presented in this paper. NIR sky background radiation is very weak; to detect the signals obscured by noise, our approach is to use a chopper to modulate the detected signal and demodulate it using an LIA . The effect of the 1/f noise of the detector, dark current and other noise sources can be reduced to improve Signal-to-Noise Ratio (SNR) and the detected signal will be obtained. The orthogonal vector LIA… Show more

“…This study introduces a frequency extraction method using a lock-in amplifier (LIA) analysis for polarization-modulated ranging. Lock-in amplifiers (LIAs) are widely employed in various scientific domains, including metrology [26], biomedicine [27], seismic monitoring [28], detection [29,30] and others [31][32][33][34], due to their exceptional noise reduction capabilities. In our research, we apply frequency modulation to the modulator's drive signal, thereby modulating the detection signal into an AC signal to mitigate the impact of wideband noise, particularly detector 1/f noise.…”

“…ACEs have many variable geometries, such as the fan-on-blade (Flade) and the mode selector valve (MSV). Many configurations of ACEs have been developed according to the combination of variable geometries [2][3][4][5][6]. An engine has one or two more bypasses than the traditional turbofan engine, and the variable geometries can adjust the bypass mass flows.…”
