Detection and correction of errors in linear antenna arrays

Abstract: Detection and correction of errors is a hot topic of research in the field of antenna arrays. The errors in the excitation amplitude result in the adulteration of the radiation pattern, and hence, the dynamic detection and correction of these errors are very important for proper maintenance of the radiation pattern. In this paper, a novel technique for detection and correction of errors in linear antenna arrays is presented. The analytical nature of the proposed approach makes it a viable alternative to the op… Show more

“…Many researchers have studied the amplitude and phase excitation error in array antenna. Appasani et al proposed a pseudo measurement technique for detection and correction of excitation error of the array antenna [1]. Zahedi and Arand proposed a phase compensation method based on the genetic algorithm to realize the phase error correction for large phased array antennas [2].…”

“…Iterative Fourier transform (IFT) [5], [30], [31] and quantized IFT (QIFT) [32] is another method for calculating the excitation of remaining elements. Besides the calculation methods based on intelligence optimization algorithm and IFT, there are other techniques based error minimization scheme, such as cumulative sum (CUSUM) [11], matrix pencil technique (MPT) [33]- [35], conjugate symmetry approach [36], minimum norm least-square [37]. After the excitation was calculated, the remaining TR modules would be reconfigured to obtain the repaired pattern which is similar to the original pattern.…”
