“…The most important viruses causing yellowing and stunting symptoms reported to infect chickpea and lentil in Central and West Asia and North Africa (CWANA) region are: Bean leafroll virus (BLRV, genus Luteovirus, family Luteoviridae), Beet western yellows virus (BWYV, genus Polerovirus, family Luteoviridae), Chickpea chlorotic dwarf virus (CpCDV, genus Mastrevirus, family Geminiviridae), and Faba bean necrotic yellows virus (FBNYV, genus Nanovirus, family Nanoviridae). Recently, Chickpea chlorotic stunt virus (CpCSV, genus Polerovirus, family Luteoviridae) has been characterized and reported to affect chickpea and other legume crops in Ethiopia, Eritrea, Syria, Iran, Morocco, Egypt and Sudan (Abraham et al 2006(Abraham et al , 2009Kumari et al 2008;Asaad et al 2009;Bananej et al 2010). CpCSV may have been identified in earlier surveys in CWANA region as BWYV or unidentified Luteoviridae species, due to the lack of specific serological diagnostic tools (Horn et al 1995b;Makkouk et al 2003).…”
