“…The overall agreement between TST and QFT was 72%, that can be considered as fair, when many previous international studies reported moderate or fair agreement only between both the tests [ 18 20 ]. Supportively, recent studies from Saudi Arabia on dialysis patients also showed 75.5% and 90.9% agreement between TST and QFT/TSPOT Assay respectively [ 21 , 22 ].…”

“…However, a recent study reported 75.5% (Ä = 0.34) agreement between TST and QFT-G results among 200 dialysis patients with a positive TST rate of 13% and positive QFT-G rate of 32.5% [26]. Another study reported 90.9% (Ä = 0.46) agreement between TST and T-SPOT among 44 kidney donors and 60.15% (Ä = 0.07) agreement between the two tests among 133 hemodialysis patients, with 40% of them having discordant results between TST and T-SPOT [27]. However, the sample sizes of both studies were small, and the findings cannot be safely projected to HCWs.…”

“…Our subjects were studied prospectively and are the most recent representative sample when compared to previous studies in Saudi Arabia, where subjects were enrolled either retrospectively, or before the date of this study. 3 , 35 , 36 , 37 The window period required for QFT to be positive post-exposure was carefully considered when subjects were enrolled in the study since TB exposure within 3 months was the criteria for enrollment. Our results reflect LTBI with little likelihood of false positive and false negative with IGRA specificity of 98.1% and a sensitivity of 89.0%.…”
