Detecting Colored Contaminants in Wool Using an Integrating Sphere

Abstract: An inspection system has been constructed that uses the illumination within an integrating sphere to maximize the visual contrast of colored contaminants in webs of white wool. Background images formed by the white fiber mass can be suppressed almost completely by using an integrating sphere of relatively simple construction.
