Show more

“…Our analysis did not consider some other confirmed positive mammals as potential hosts due to the fact that they are poorly represented in the data set, including rodents of the genera Rattus and Mus , in spite of the fact that they are associated with MBFVs in urban and rural sites in Mexico [ 15 , 65 , 69 ]. Similarly, for domestic mammals and other potential non-mammalian warm-blooded hosts [ 65 ].…”

“…There is no molecular evidence of MBFV, or evidence of antibody production against DENV-2, in wild rodents from Mexico, although there are reports of DENV in urban rodents ( Mus musculus and Rattus rattus ) [ 8 , 21 ], demonstrating that environmental heterogeneity may directly affect MBFV circulation in these hosts. We found no molecular evidence of MBFVs in rodent samples or evidence of antibody production against DENV.…”

“…Also, in the USA, SLEV and WNV have been reported in cricetid ( Sigmodon hispidus , Oryzomys palustris ) and sciurid rodents ( Tamiasciurus hudsonicus , Tamias striatus ) [ 4 , 22 ]. None of the wild rodent species tested in this study were included in past surveys [ 8 , 21 ].…”

“…Initially, a semi-nested PCR was performed to detect the Flavivirus genus (Torres-Castro et al, 2017). With the cDNA positive to this first reaction, separate reactions were performed to detect DENV 1-4, ZIKV and WNV infections.…”
