Abstract: Background: Hypoxanthine-guanine phosphoribosyltransferase (HPRT1) deficiency is an inborn error of purine metabolism responsible for Lesch–Nyhan syndrome (LNS). The disease is inherited in an X-linked recessive manner and predominantly affects male individuals.
