Abstract:Designs of apochromatic and superachromatic Gauss objectives utilizing only two optical materials have been described recently.1 These earlier designs were developed with moderate values of focal ratio (f/4) and fields of view (12–20°) and have reasonably excellent optical performance over wavelength bands covering the visible and near infrared regions of the electromagnetic spectrum.
