Designing Open Informational Ecosystems on the Concept of Open Educational Resources

Abstract: Open informational ecosystems play a crucial role in fostering open educational resources (OER) and allow new opportunities to share and collaborate in the learning and teaching environment. Such ecosystems containing interoperable infrastructures and open interfaces aim at fulfilling user needs and fostering practices related to the concept of OER and the five user rights (5 R’s). To fully embrace this role, those ecosystems need to be designed carefully. In this paper, we discuss implications for open informa… Show more

“…However, as an emergent phenomenon, its chief characteristics and boundaries are still being shaped by various disciplines or schools of thought. Research communities composed of researchers, higher education institutions and publishers have recently 'established proper infrastructure for making research more open, like open access repositories and data archiving centers', and large initiatives such as Foster and Go Fair have emerged to support open science practices [36] (p. 3). Open science practices offer benefits such as wider sharing and reanalysis of code, data and research materials; increasing replications and more transparent data presentation [35].…”

“…There are concerns both in social and life sciences that there is a lack of replication studies of published research as such replication studies often require unfettered access to research data [9] [35][36][37].…”
