Designing of emerald terbium (III) ions with β‐ketocarboxylic acid and heterocyclic ancillary ligands for biological and optoelectronic applications

Abstract: A green and highly efficient grinding method was adopted to synthesize emerald terbium complexes with 1-cyclopropyl-6-fluro-4-oxo-7-piperazin-1-ylquinoline-3-carboxylic acid as the main organic ligand and 2,2 0 -bipyridyl, 1,10-phenanthroline, neocuproine, 5,6-dimethyl-1,10-phenanthroline and bathophenanthroline as ancillary ligands. Structural analysis of these complexes was executed via elemental, infrared and 1 H-nuclear magnetic resonance analysis, which confirmed that the ligand coordinated to the metal i… Show more

“…Moreover, a prominent parameter CCT (correlated color parameter) was figured out to investigate the nature and quality of light radiated from the source. CCT might be quantified by implementing the Mc-Camy equation and observed values of CCT, ascertained the nature of complexes as either cool or warm or neutral light source [3]: wherein n may be prescribed as follows:…”

“…Nowadays, lanthanide complexes are rapidly acquiring popularity due to their fabulous applications such as organic light-emitting diodes (OLEDs), flat lighting displays, biomedical analysis, coordination chemistry, fluorescence labels, and electroluminescence due to unique photophysical properties such as high color purity, long lifetime, sharp line like emission, and large stoke's shift [1][2][3][4]. Among lanthanides, especially europium, terbium, and samarium complexes have unique photophysical properties caused by intraconfigurational f-f transitions between emissive levels [5].…”

“…The prominent frequencies of spectra are enlisted in table 2. The spectrum of CDFA displayed, two sharp bands at 3530 and 3470 cm −1 corresponding to ν(-OH carboxylic) and ν(-NH) respectively, but these bands are superseded by the broad and intense band in the range of 3150-3600 cm −1 in spectra of complexes, which corresponds to the overlapped band of -NH stretch of ligand with -OH stretch of aqua molecules present in complexes [18][19][20]. A sharp band at 1620 cm -1 in spectrum of ligand, is assigned to the ν(C=O) stretch of carbonyl group [21,22] but it is red shifted toward lower frequencies region between 1570-1575 cm −1 in spectra of complexes, which justified the involvement of the ketonic group in complexation [21].…”
