Any object-oriented (O-O) module's primary goal is to build classes with a high level of coherent interaction between variables and methods. To increase the quality of O-O (Object-Oriented) software, various metrics emphasizing cohesiveness have been established so far. These metrics operate on both the design and the code levels. However, these metrics still fall short of fully measuring the cohesion of object-oriented (O-O) software. Based on several concepts of cohesive interlinkages between variables and procedures, the study proposed an enhanced cohesion metric. The four forms of cohesive linkages (VMRv, VMMv, VMRTv, and VMOv) between variables and procedures were the focus of this study. The axiomatic frame of reference was employed for theoretical validation, and univariate logistic regression was applied in the MATLAB environment for empirical validation. The approach of univariate logistic regression has been adopted because it provides incredibly accurate data and can even be applied to datasets that can be linearly separated. The proposed metric exhibits high cohesion, which is the ultimate perspective of a highly reusable Object- Oriented (O-O) module, as evidenced by the testing phase and even training the real dataset with reusability prediction in terms of high values of precision, recall, R2, and low value of RSME of VMICM metric. The study results demonstrated that the proposed metric can act as a measure for predicting the reusability of the Object-Oriented (O-O) system.

Many organizations depend on software systems to accomplish their daily tasks, but these systems need to be maintained and evolved to cope with various changes and requirements. Before starting to maintain and evolve software systems, it is necessary to understand them. Reverse engineering plays a crucial role in comprehending various aspects of software systems by extracting different models and diagrams that represent the structure and behaviour of software systems. This article presents a systematic literature review (SLR) to understand the current state of research in model-driven engineering (MDE) for reverse engineering software systems. The considered articles came from five electronic databases (Scopus, IEEE Xplore, Web of Science, ACM Digital Library, and Google Scholar), and were supplemented by additional articles recommended by experts and provided by manual snowballing. From 538 surveyed papers, 83 principal studies were selected, which present the main characteristics of 64 model-driven reverse engineering (MDRE) approaches. These approaches are analyzed and evaluated based on their objectives and characteristics. Additionally, research gaps and areas where more research is needed are also identified. Therefore, the review provides comprehensive answers to several widely interesting questions for researchers and practitioners who are considering using MDRE.INDEX TERMS Application program, legacy system, model-driven reverse engineering (MDRE), modeldriven re-engineering, software application.

The requirement analysis step of the Software Engineering Life Cycle (SELC) is the most crucial in order to ensure excellent quality. Besides, requirements specifications must be compared to the consistency, completeness, and correctness (3C's). Thus, dealing with Natural Language (NL) requirements makes this more challenging than usual., The problems that appear at this stage, if they are not detected or proceed, will lead to errors in the system and sometimes to the failure of the entire system; in addition to the effort required and the cost of maintenance will be large. Accordingly, to overcome these problems, different tools have been developed and implemented to analyse the requirements through Natural Language Processing (NLP). These tools facilitate the process of eliciting requirements through Unified Modelling Language (UML) diagrams. Additionally, creating UML diagrams from NL specifications is a very difficult process. In particular, few efforts have been made in the work of extracting NL specifications, so these diagrams facilitate understanding and analysis of requirements and reduce the time of completion very significantly compared to the manual method. Using automated software engineering tools presents high-quality software that can be produced to help software developers and engineers. The main aim of this research is to concentrate on analysing requirements based on the Use Case Diagram, which is a more popular one in UML diagram. Thus, this research will support other researchers in understanding and specifying the useful tools and mechanisms that can help them to analyse the requirements through Natural Language Processing (NLP) based UML diagrams.
