DESIGNED STRUCTURE AND MAGNETIC CHARACTERISTIC STUDIES OF MAGNETIC IRON OXIDE (Fe3O4) NANOPARTICLES COATED BY POLYVINYL ALCOHOL AND POLYVINYL ALCOHOL-LINKED WITH GLUTARALDEHYDE

Abstract: In this work, polyvinyl alcohol (PVA)-coated Fe3O4 (PVA-Fe3O4) and PVA-grafted Fe3O4 using glutaraldehyde (GA) as a crosslinker (PVA-GA-Fe3O4) were prepared. These two materials were prepared by in-situ coprecipitation method due to the simplicity synthesis procedures which accompanied with mild and clean conditions to produce excellent materials. The effects of preparation and synthesis conditions toward the characteristics of PVA-Fe3O4, and PVA-GA-Fe3O4 nanoparticles were investigated in detail. Then, the re… Show more

“…The Cu ion in the Zn-ferrite crystal increases the constant rate of 0.10 mmol min -1 and the Cu-ferrite see a reaction rate of 0.18 mmol min -1 . This activity of Cu containing ferrites can be demonstrated by the redox pair Cu + /Cu 2+ at the surface [24][25][26][27][28][29] .…”

“…It can be seen that the crystal size of the PPS/PVA/Fe 3 O 4 nanocomposite decreased compared to that of PPS. The reason is attributed to the cross-linking of PVA and Fe 3 O 4 , which destroyed the regularity and mobility of PPS chains, resulting in smaller crystals and strongly magnetic properties [14,31].…”

“…PVA possesses water solubility, nontoxicity, high durability, porosity, biocompatibility, biodegradability, optical transparency, and great dielectric strength [28,29]. The solubility of PVA allows nanoparticles to be easily dispersed in an aqueous medium, preventing the aggregation of nanoparticles [27,30,31].…”

“…Therefore, coating technology by using polymer, metal or non-metal, and the surfactant has been studied previously. 5,6 Oleic acid (OA) is a surfactant which is commonly employed to stabilize the magnetite nanoparticles. Oleic acid can form a strong chemical bond through the interaction of its carboxyl group with magnetite nanoparticles.…”
