In order to solve the problem of mechanism design of new energy participating in day-ahead spot market and promote the transaction bidding of new energy participating in spot market to improve its production efficiency, a new energy participating day-ahead spot market clearing method based on two-layer architecture was proposed. The upper structure is a conventional power unit transaction clearing model based on new energy generation prediction, which aims to maximize the consumption of new energy through conventional power unit transaction clearing and evaluate the expected wind and light curtailment power. The lower structure is a new energy transaction clearing model based on expected wind and light power abandonment, which aims to share the expected wind and light power abandonment in a market-based way and promote new energy to improve its production efficiency. Through the orderly connection of two layers of architecture, the generation plan of conventional power units and new energy power stations can be optimized and cleared. Finally, a numerical example is constructed based on the actual data of a provincial power grid to verify the effectiveness of the proposed method. Compared with the traditional clearing method, the proposed clearing method can improve the efficiency of new energy power generation by more than 10%, which is helpful to further improve the efficiency of power grid operation.

Synchronous homopolar machines (SHM) with excitation winding on the stator have attracted the attention of researchers for many decades due to their high reliability. They are used in a variety of applications such as aircraft and railway generators and traction motors. At the same time, the three-dimensional structure of their magnetic circuit makes the problem of their analysis and optimization challenging. This problem becomes even more complicated when considering an SHM with hybrid excitation, with ferrite magnets in the rotor slots. The article proposes a mathematical procedure for optimizing a synchronous homopolar generator with hybrid excitation based on the single-criterion Nelder-Mead method and two-dimensional finite element analysis (FEA). The use of the Nelder-Mead method compared to multicriteria methods and 2D FEA compared to 3D FEA makes possible to significantly reduce the computational burden. As a result of optimization, the power loss and torque ripples of the generator are significantly reduced. The article also compares the characteristics of synchronous homopolar generators with and without ferrite magnets.

Doubly salient electromagnetic machine (DSEM) can constitute a competitive rugged starter generator (SG) system. But under the traditional startup control method, the field current is set to the rated value regardless of speed or load torque conditions, and the phase currents are controlled with standard angle commutation, bringing in large power loss as well as non‐negligible torque ripple. To overcome these shortcomings, based on the established DSEM power loss calculation model, a currents distribution strategy is proposed according to the obtained quantitative relationship between DSEM power loss and field current under multiple speed and load torque conditions. Then, to identify the load torque for practical implementation, a novel torque observer is designed based on back propagation (BP) neural network algorithm. Afterwards, to further improve the startup torque performance, currents distribution with advanced angle commutation (AAC) strategy is put forward, where the optimal advanced angle is selected from a 3‐D lookup table to achieve the minimal commutation torque ripple. Under the proposed control strategies, DSEM power loss as well as the output torque ripple are desired to be decreased, the simulation and experimental results on a 12/8‐pole DSEM prototype verify the correctness and feasibility of the proposed strategies under multiple operating conditions.
