Design space exploration in aircraft conceptual design phase based on system-of-systems simulation

Abstract: Design space exploration has been much neglected in aircraft conceptual design phase, which often leads to a waste of time and cost in design, manufacture and operation process. It is necessary to explore design space based on operational systemof-systems (SoS) simulation during the early phase for a competitive design. This paper proposes a methodology to analyze aircraft performance parameters in four steps: combination of parameters, object analysis, operational simulation, and keyparameters analysis. Meanw… Show more

“…Accordingly, the complexity of ABS was also leveraged as a critical issue in Ref. [35]. Here, the authors simulated an earthquake crisis rescue scenario, and they stressed that the key step in behavioral modeling is to set the so-called "state-switch" rules to represent reality under any external condition.…”

“…Durand et al [1] further improved the framework by replacing the sequential optimization with global optimization and applied it to the multi-robot system design for mapping and exploration. Similarly, Tian et al [5] proposed a combination of parameters, objective analysis, operational simulation, keyparameters analysis (COOK) framework of the SoS oriented design space exploration for UAV-helicopter groups, which contains four steps: combination of parameters, object analysis, operational simulation, and key-parameter analysis.…”
