Design of Web Survey Questionnaires: Three Basic Experiments

Abstract: Despite increased use of Web surveys, relatively little is known about standards for designing Web questionnaires. Since there is no help from an interviewer for the respondent taking a Web survey, the design of self‐administered Web questionnaires is even more important in order to achieve high data quality. Question wording, form and graphic layout of the questionnaire are particularly important. This paper presents some basic experiments to address these issues: one vs. multiple‐page design, use of logotype… Show more

“…Response rate (McConkey et al, 2003), response quality (Hanna et al, 2005), and respondent satisfaction (Manfreda, Batagelj, & Vehovar, 2002) are evaluated under conditions of varying 145 survey introductory elements (Brennan, Benson, & Kearns, 2005) to determine the impact of these elements and to provide insight into the most effective means for survey introduction when conducting online-based surveys.…”

Часто такой вывод объясняется тем, что респондент, вероятно, воспринимает вопросы, расположенные близко физически (на одном экране) как близкие по концептуальному значению [16].…”
