Design of Resource-Aware Load Allocation for Heterogeneous Fog Computing Environments

Abstract: The architecture employed by most of the researchers for the deployment of latency-sensitive Internet of Things (IoT) applications is fog computing. Fog computing architecture offers less delay as compared to the cloud computing paradigm by providing resource constraint fog devices close to the edge of the network. Fog nodes process the incoming data by utilizing available resources which reduces the volume of data to be sent to the cloud server. Fog devices having dissimilar processing capabilities are presen… Show more

“…The proposed policy provides a significant reduction in network consumption by assigning appropriate fog resources to clusters of cameras. The size of the information sensed by the edge nodes is calculated using the sensing rate of the sensors ( Hassan et al, 2022a ). The proposed algorithm assigns a cluster of edge devices to a suitable fog node to get the optimum performance of the paradigm.…”

“…Another approach was designed for mapping sensor nodes to its parent fog node effectively, so that overall system performance could be improved. Authors designed this approach to handle varied computing capabilities of fog nodes and look to reduce delay and improve network utilization [ 19 ].…”
