Design of planar inverted‐F antenna over uniplanar EBG structure for laptop mimo applications

Abstract: Three uniplanar shapes of electromagnetic band gap (EBG) structure as T‐shape, fractal shape, and interdigital capacitors are investigated for antenna applications. The proposed EBG shapes are etched on the ground plane of the planar inverted‐F antenna (PIFA) to improve the impedance bandwidth, reduce the antenna size, increase the gain, and improve radiation pattern.
