Design of partitioned linear Fresnel lens for medium-concentrated PV and its performance

Abstract: Abstract. We introduce the novel 50 50 mm 2 medium-CPV (Concentrated Photovoltaic) lens design in which linear type Fresnel patterns are formed for the efficient and uniform illumination of sunlight onto the 10 10 mm 2 HIT (Heterojunction intrinsic thin layer) silicon solar cells. We utilized LightTools illumination design tools and carried out optimization to obtain the optical efficiency up to 85~87 %. Lens fabrication is being carried and tested for the practical optical efficiency when integrated to develo… Show more

“…In order to efficiently and uniformly illuminate 10 × 10 mm 2 HIT (heterojunction intrinsic thin layer) silicon solar cells, Jang et al (2014) [43] presented a new design for 50 × 50 mm 2 medium-CPV (concentrated photovoltaic) lenses that generate linear-type Fresnel patterns. The scientists optimized the lighting design tools in Light Tools to achieve an optical efficiency of 85~87%.…”
