Design of optimal length preview controller

Abstract: Purpose -This paper aims to determine the optimal preview length for the preview state feedback controller and to design the static preview gains for the controller. Design/methodology/approach -The design methodology is based on LMI formulations and Bisection Approach to determine the optimal preview length for the preview state feedback controller that achieves robust H1 performance. The determination of the optimal preview length is such that the performance of the optimized controller is similar (within bo… Show more

“…Compared with the existing results, the basic ideas of our design method were not utilized in Gershon and Shaked (2014), Kojima (2014), Moelja and Meinsma (2006), Tamaddoni et al (2011), Takaba (2003), Wang et al (2014), Zhang et al (2013), and the preview control problems of time-invariant systems were studied without considering the robustness (Cao and Liao, 2015; Li and Liao, 2015; Salton et al, 2016; Zhang et al, 2015; Zhao et al, 2016). Moreover, the difference methods in Birla and Swarup (2014), Cheng et al (2014), Liao et al (2003), Li and Liao (2017), Oya et al (2007), Ryu et al (2008), Takaba (2000), Zhu et al (2015) cannot be extended to this paper because the uncertain matrices are time-varying and unknown.…”

“…For a polytypic uncertain system, Liao et al (2003), Li and Liao (2017), Oya et al (2007), Paulino et al (2015) and Takaba (2000) considered the robust preview control problems by using a combined method of the error system technique in Tsuchiya and Egami (1994) and LMI approach. Based on linear quadratic control theory and LMI approach, Birla and Swarup (2014), Zhu et al (2015) proposed a preview controller design method for time-invariant systems with external disturbances.…”
