Design of lightweight beryllium optics, factors effecting producibility, and cost of near-net-shape blanks

Abstract: Design characteristics which influence the cost and producibility of near-net-shape blanks for light-weight beryllium optics are discussed. Producibility factors include cell geometry and mountings. Design rules are presented for defining the size, shape and arrangement of light-weighting cells.
