The new educational policy in Indonesia does not require English as a compulsory subject in primary school. To respond to the current policy, some primary schools, especially Islamic affiliated primary schools still have a commitment to provide English lessons as an extracurricular subject. Since there is no regulation toward the teaching and learning process, implementing Content-Language Integrated Learning (CLIL) approach into teaching materials aims to improve the learning process. This study used ADDIE (Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation) model to design the CLIL materials and reached the third stage. The results highlight that after conducting a need analysis, the syllabus and the students' activity book consists of three selected topics that integrate Islamic values into CLIL model. They were Caring for Living Things, My Heroes, and My Dream Job. Those topics were adapted from a thematic book applied in the school partner under the Curriculum 2013. These topics were designed into three main subjects i.e., Science, Islamic Content, and Arts. Furthermore, before each topic, vocabulary-based activities were presented followed by three kinds of activities. Islamic values are integrated into CLIL materials to promote Contextual Teaching and Learning (CTL) also to advocate local wisdom-based curriculum, particularly infusing the Muslim cultures and values. This study concludes that there is a need to integrate Islamic content to English materials in Islamic primary affiliated schools.

English for Islamic Studies is taught as the general subject in the State Islamic Institute of Palopo. Therefore, the researchers aimed to develop valid English materials for learners of the Islamic education study program. The researchers applied the 4-D model by Thiagarajan et al. It consists of four stages namely, defining, designing, developing and disseminating. There were 68 learners who answered a questionnaire for needing analysis, 23 learners involved in the field try-out, and three lecturers assessed and reviewed the product. Questionnaires and field notes were used as the research instruments. The obtained data were analyzed qualitatively and quantitatively. The researchers created English materials in the form of a textbook in which it consists of ten units. The topics are 5 pillars of Islam, 6 pillars of faith, daily life of a Muslim, Islamic figure, ulul azmi, Amal Ma’ruf Nahi Munkar, halal and haram, Islamic education in Indonesia, Muslim generation, and religious moderation. The data gathered during the trial period revealed that the textbook was suitable to learning process, met the learners’ needs, and it was well-received by the learners. They were engaged, motivated, and excited to complete the activities outlined in the textbook. Therefore, the textbook can be used by lecturers and learners in Indonesia as a learning medium

This Research and Development (R&D) is conducted to develop English teaching materials for young learners of grade four based on Islamic values of integrated language skills at SD IT AL Hijrah 2 Deli Serdang. The objectives of this study are 1) to analyze English teaching materials are needed by the students, 2) to develop the English teaching materials, and 3) to give reasons for the English teaching materials developed. The respondent of this study is 23 respondents which consisted of twenty (20) fourth-grade students, one (1) English teacher, and two (2) lecturers. The data is collected by questionnaire, interview, and documentary. The results of this study showed that 1) English teaching materials needed by the students are English teaching materials based on Islamic values of integrated language skills, 2) the development of English teaching materials were developed through four steps, namely evaluation and need analysis, material development, material validation, and revision and final product, and 3) the reason English teaching materials are developed based on Islamic values of integrated language skills is because of the Islamic elementary schools and the terms or level of young learners. Based on the expert’s judgment result, the score was 3.68, and the percentage is 90% categorized as very good. It means that the developed materials were relevant or appropriate for the fourth-grade students of Islamic elementary school. It implies that the teacher can use the developed English teaching materials based on Islamic values of integrated language skills and Islamic elementary needs to lead the students to learn English in the Islamic context.
