Design of hybrid fractal antenna for UWB application

Abstract: A compact fractal monopole planar antenna with size of 30× 25 mm 2 is proposed for ultra wide band (UWB) application. The proposed antenna is designed by combination of Giusepe Peano and Sierpinski Carpet fractal geometries. The feed circuit is a microstrip line with a matching section over a semi-elliptical ground plane. The proposed antenna has an omnidirectional radiation pattern and good gain. The simulated results of return loss, gain and radiation patterns are presented and discussed.

“…MPA, which is also known as the printed antenna, is a simple patch antenna that consists of a radiated metal foil patch on the top, dielectric substrate and ground plane. It can be easily fabricated on a printed circuit board (PCB) (Yu et al, 2015;Kumar et al, 2012). The name "Fractals," which refers to irregular fragments, plays a pivotal role in designing compact and multiband antennas.…”

“…described an MPA with Koch-Minkowski hybrid slot for wideband applications. Kumar et al (2012) Bangi and Sivia (2018a) designed dual antennas by superimposing Hilbert and Minkowski curves on each other to achieve desired characteristics and to make them suitable for wireless applications. Kaur and Sivia (2019a) used the combination of three fractal geometries, i.e.…”
