Design of Compact Wideband Manifold-Coupled Multiplexers

Abstract: Abstract-The design of manifold-coupled multiplexers for wideband applications is considered in this paper. A systematic procedure, based on the sequential connection of filters to the manifold and subsequent adjustment of the interconnection elements, is presented. The filters are attached to the manifold without using stubs, in order to minimize the effect of spurious resonances. The interconnection elements, the manifold and the remaining filters are considered as the first inverter of each new filter that … Show more

“…The side coupling E plane T-shaped junction is shown in Figure 5(a) [16,17], which passes through the Tx band signal, and the Rx band signal is cut off. In this procedure, we focus on the side branch which for the Tx band.…”

“…In this context, this paper presents a manifold multiplexer configuration using all-inductive dual-mode filters in rectangular waveguide technology [Guglielmi et al, 2001;Martinez Mendoza et al, 2015]. Although multiplexers in all-inductive technology have been previously proposed in Carceller et al [2015], Garay et al [2005], Shang et al [2013], and Xia et al [2014], this is the first time that dual-mode cavities combined with all-inductive technology are integrated in manifold multiplexers. In Carceller et al [2015] and Garay et al [2005], all-inductive multiplexers are designed using efficient techniques.…”

“…Tuning screws can thus be avoided in many cases, for instance in filters with relative bandwidths greater than 1-2% for Ku-band applications. The use of a clamshell assembly combined with the absence of tuning screws minimizes the Passive Intermodulation (PIM) introduced by these filters, consequently making them very suitable for satellite applications [1] and experimental set-ups [10], [11]. However, the work in [10] only explored a particularly simple configuration providing TZs above the passband.…”
