Abstract:L-Ascorbic acid (ASC), commonly known as vitamin C, acts as an anti-oxidant in the biological system. It is extensively used as an excipient in pharmaceutical industry, food supplements in fruit juices, and food materials due to its free radicals scavenging activity. Main drawback of ASC is its poor aqueous stability owing to the presence of lactone moiety that is easily oxidized to dehydroascorbic acid and further degraded. To improve aqueous stability and inhibit oxidative degradation, ASC was co-crystallize… Show more
“…8,9 Similarly, degradation of a drug can be examined in the biological pH medium (1–6.8) to define its shelf life. 10 Although multicomponent solids like cocrystals are in high trend in tuning the solubility/permeability of zwitterionic drugs ( e.g. norfloxacin, ciprofloxacin, sparfloxacin), 11,12 their application towards chemical stability in aqueous medium is comparatively less studied in the literature.…”
Cephalexin (CPX) is a first generation β-lactam antibiotic with great efficiency to kill gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria. Although, the drug belongs to BCS class I category of high solubility/permeability, it...

scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
