Design of Anti-Jamming Waveforms for Time-Hopping Spread Spectrum Systems in Tone Jamming Environments

Abstract: We consider the problem of designing waveforms for mitigating single tone jamming (STJ) signals with an estimated jamming frequency in time-hopping spread spectrum (TH SS) systems. The proposed design of waveforms optimizes the antijamming (AJ) performance of TH SS systems by minimizing the correlation between the template and STJ signals, in which the problem of waveform optimization is simplified by employing a finite number of rectangular pulses. The simplification eventually makes the design of waveforms b… Show more

“…Due to their broadcasting nature, wireless networks are extremely vulnerable to jamming attacks. A jammer may dramatically disrupt the communications between two or more legitimate users by launching jamming signals to the target wireless channel [4]. As a result, the receiver may fail to decode out any useful messages from the legitimate transmitter.…”

“…Specifically, malicious jamming is the behavior where a specific device outside the communication system is transmitting high-power signals to interfere with legal communications. In addition, the information about a malicious jammer is unknown and not controlled by the legitimate system, which is more harmful to the communication system and even causes legitimate communication interruption [ 15 , 16 ]. To combat jamming attacks, by adjusting the UAV’s position adaptively over time, one can achieve excellent safety and anti-jamming performance, and there are corresponding anti-jamming technologies when facing malicious jamming attacks [ 17 , 18 , 19 , 20 , 21 ].…”
