Design of an ultra-wideband monopole antenna with multiple band-rejected characteristic

Abstract

In this paper, a compact ultra-wideband (UWB) antenna with tri-band notched characteristics is proposed. The antenna is fabricated on a Rogers Duroid 4003 substrate and fed by coplanar waveguide (CPW) . The notched bands are achieved by adding two resonators on the back of the antenna and a semicircle loop on the radiation patch. By integrating the band-rejected structures , the antenna can suppress the maritime satellite communication band (3.15-3.6 GHz) and the WLAN band (5.75-5.85 GHZ and 7.25-7.75 GHZ) successfully, which improves the utilization of the frequency resource and decreases the electromagnetic interference (EMI). Some detailed analysis of the geometric and electric parameters are also mentioned in this paper. Furthermore, the equivalent circuit model has been presented to understand the principle of the antenna.
